Sunday Ecstatic Dance

A Sunday-morning sober ecstatic dance in a Chicago backyard (indoors in winter). Doors open at 10:00 AM for tea and grounding, a yogic embodiment warm-up starts at 10:30, ambient music rises from 10:45, and the main DJ set runs 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. No talking, no shoes, no alcohol.

Floor agreements

  • No alcohol, no substances — this is a sober floor.
  • No talking on the dance floor; there's a chai corner for conversation.
  • Shoes off, phones away, cameras only with everyone's yes.
  • Move how your body wants. Lying on the grass counts as dancing.

Never done this before?

Most people arrive nervous and spend the first twenty minutes swaying by a tree. That is a completely normal way to dance here. Come as you are, leave sweaty.
