The fine print

Community guidelines & waiver

The agreements every dancer makes when they buy a ticket or sign our waiver. They exist so the room stays safe, sober, and genuinely free.

Community Guidelines & Terms

The three soft agreements

Barefoot if you can — clean socks or soft indoor shoes are welcome if you have a medical or physical reason.

Wordless on the floor — words are always okay for consent or care, but otherwise we let the body lead.

Phones away — leave them in your bag so we can be fully here together.

Sober space

This is a sober practice. No alcohol or recreational substances before or during the dance. The journey comes from the music, the movement, and the room.

Consent and touch

This is a non-sexual space. If you want to dance with someone, make eye contact and wait for a clear yes. A 'no' can be a turn-away, a small bow with hands together, or a hand up — respect it without taking it personally. You can end any dance at any moment, no explanation needed.

No guided instruction

Once the dance begins there is no choreography and no steps to learn. The DJ holds the wave; you find your own movement. Please don't try to lead, instruct, or correct other dancers on the floor.

Arrival, late entry, and leaving early

Doors open at 2:30 PM, a welcome meditation begins at 2:50, yoga runs 3:00–3:50, the live DJ dance runs 3:50–5:20, we close with savasana at 5:20, and tag-team open decks run 5:30–6:00 PM. Please arrive before 3:00 for the yoga; if you can't make the start, come at 3:50 for the dance.

If you need to slip out early, do so quietly between tracks. The floor stays open.

Tickets and changes

Tickets are non-refundable. Your ticket is good for any Sunday for 90 days from the date you select — if life happens, just come to a later one. If you bought extra tickets to share with friends, they're yours to use however helps within the same 90-day window.

Every person on the floor, including a minor, needs their own ticket. If we cancel a dance, you get a full refund or a transfer, your choice.

Photography

No personal photography or recording on the dance floor — ever. Occasionally we may take a few wide, non-identifying photos for our own use; we'll always tell you in the opening circle and you can opt out.

Belongings and valuables

Q Studios, 2328 N Milwaukee Ave, is a shared building and the top-floor room is not locked, monitored, or soundproof. Other groups may be in the building.

Please leave valuables at home, or keep your phone, wallet, and keys with you. We can't watch bags, and we're not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Online classes

Zoom classes are live and drop-in. Cameras are always optional. Recordings, when we make them, capture the teacher only — not the room. Please make sure your own space is clear enough to move safely.

Showing up with care

Come with kindness, an open mind, and an open heart — free of judgment toward yourself or others. If something is hard, Rich is here. If something feels off, please tell us.

Yoga, Dance & Movement Liability Waiver

I understand that Yoga Electronica is a physical practice that combines yoga, breathwork, and free-form barefoot dance. It involves vigorous movement, contact with the floor, other people, and yoga props, exposure to loud music and low light, and emotional release. I understand that breathwork, yogic embodiment, kettlebell work, and massage carry their own physical risks. I am voluntarily choosing to participate.

Yoga. I understand that yoga includes stretching, balancing, bending, twisting, inversions, and holding poses, and that it can cause muscle strains, sprains, joint or back injury, dizziness, or falls. Instruction is offered as guidance only — I am responsible for modifying or skipping any pose, and for resting whenever I need to. Hands-on adjustments are only given with my permission, and I may decline at any time.

Dance and the room. I understand that dancing barefoot on a shared floor carries risks including slips, trips, falls, collisions with other dancers, stubbed or broken toes, and cuts, bruises, sprains, or fractures, and that mats, blocks, and bags on or near the floor can be tripping hazards. I will stay aware of the people and objects around me.

I confirm that I am physically and mentally fit to participate, and that I have consulted a medical professional about any condition — including pregnancy, recent surgery or injury, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, or psychiatric conditions — that could be affected by yoga, physical activity, breathwork, loud music, or emotional intensity. I will move within my own limits and rest when I need to.

I will not participate under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, and I will respect this as a sober space.

I consent to receive first aid, and if needed to have emergency medical services called, at my own expense, if I am injured or become ill.

I assume all risks of injury, illness, or loss arising from my participation, including risks I cannot foresee, and I take full responsibility for my own safety, well-being, and belongings.

I understand that our venues are shared, public buildings and that no space is monitored or secured. I will leave valuables at home or keep them with me, and I accept that Yoga Electronica and the venue are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen belongings.

For massage and bodywork, I confirm I have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or medications to Rich Cotter, and I understand that massage is a non-sexual therapeutic service that I may stop at any moment for any reason.

On behalf of myself, my heirs, and my personal representatives, I release and hold harmless Richie Rich Entertainment LLC (doing business as Yoga Electronica), Rich Cotter, Q Studios, and their organizers, DJs, teachers, volunteers, and venue partners from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of my participation, except for claims arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct.

If I am bringing a minor for whom I am the parent or legal guardian, I sign this waiver on their behalf as well, and I confirm I have the legal authority to do so. I take full responsibility for the minor's participation and supervision.

I have read, understood, and freely agreed to this waiver.

By completing a ticket purchase or signing this waiver, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the liability waiver and community guidelines, and that you accept full responsibility for your participation.
