Andreas Om & Shanti

October 25 · Live 6:45–8 PM: throat singing, drums and tribal ecstatic dance, Shanti on vocals

Andreas Om makes music for bodies, not seats. He first heard throat singing in Siberia, performed by a Siberian shaman. Years later, living in India, he met a Tibetan monk who sang the same way and showed him the technique. It didn't come right away, until a dream years later, when a shaman told him: "Now you are ready." That throat singing now sits at the center of his sound: deep, rumbling overtones layered over live drums and tribal electronic beats.

For seven years he performed as OLOX, a project known for its legendary shamanic mask, touring Europe, Russia, Ukraine and the United States, including Wisdome in Los Angeles.

Today he performs as Devia Dev, a duo with his partner Shanti. She sings on a headset mic so she can move freely: some parts they perform side by side, and often she dances and walks through the crowd, singing with people rather than staying on stage, while Andreas carries other parts solo. Every set is different and spontaneous. A set starts with a heartbeat and builds until the whole room is dancing. As Andreas puts it: "We're a spiritual project. We share the energy."

On October 25 they play live 6:45–8 PM at the Full Moon Masquerade, right after DJ Maubin.
